Downieville - The California Classic

Downieville is an absolute California classic. The “typical” run involves a nice shuttle to the top of Packer Saddle and enjoying 5,000 joyous feet of descent. For the folks with bigger legs, there are a LOT of other ways to experience Downieville, so check out Big Boulder and Paulie Creek if you want a real challenge. In the video above, Aaron and I climbed up to the tower and it added on some significant mileage (and adventure).

Although the top of Packer Saddle is only about 35 minutes from Everstoke, it’s best to park in Downieville proper (50 minutes from Everstoke) just in case you have a mechanical problem and miss your shuttle.
